of indonesians had protests in five cities. the top u.s. and nato commander in afghanistan, general petraeus, has warned the burning could endanger u.s. troops. the u.s.-led occupation of afghanistan seeking an additional 2,000 froops to join the 140,000 already on the ground. according to the associated press, general petraeus recently submitted request to nato command. it's unclear how many new troops would be americans. the associate press is also reporting the u.s. now expects to spend around $6 billion a year on training and backing the afghan military after u.s. troops are supposed to begin withdrawing next year. in iraq, 12 people were killed and dozens wounded sunday in a gun fight involving u.s. troops. iraqi forces called in u.s. backup after iraqi militants attacked a military compound in baghdad. it was first known firefight involving u.s. troops in the iraqi capital since the nominal end of the u.s. combat mission last week. in bahrain, a government crackdown on opposition and human rights activists has escalated with a new round of arrests. over the weekend 23 people were detained o

out and instead stay on the job. one person tells us she plans to work until she dies. i'll tell what you, this isn't a new phenomenon. take a look at these numbers here. in 1998, 12% of workers over 65 stayed on the job by choice. in 2008, 17% of older workers delayed retirement. now we're at 18%. so we're seeing this number inch up. by 2018, it's forecast that 22% of workers are going to delay their requirement. now not everyone is staying at their current job. some choose to take on new projects. others start a business. one person tells us when he retired he started a small ebay business. then again some other people just decide to change careers. they got the confidence to do that. one mother who retired from the public school system is now a college professor and education consultant. some people have options, t.j., because at this age they're at the height of their careers and not really ready to pack it in and start golfing, gardening and bird watching. they want to reach to new heights in their careers. >> you give some of the reasons there they might want to keep working. ho

'll tell us how the administration is about to go with a prominent republican. let's begin with brianna keilar live in washington. congress is back in session for the big midterm election push and they've got a very big issue on their hands in the matter of whether or not to extend these bush tax cuts. this is -- this is going to be an interesting one to watch in the next couple of days. >> and this is the big issue, jim. this is the issue that in really less than four weeks because they're out of there again. they're out of washington again ahead of the election season, this is what they're going to be dealing with. and obviously, the issue that continues to resinate is republican leader john boehner who had said that he would go along with extending the tax cuts for everyone except for the wealthiest earns, which, of course, is what president obama has gone for. but it's created a jumbled message among republicans. because look at what some other republicans are saying. you have mitch mcconnell who is saying, no, i'm pushing legislation to keep these tax cuts in place across the board

: this is a big deal. the dug is not the actually the they will drug it's the sedative used before the lethal cocktail. only one company in all of america makes it and they can't make it because they can't get the ingredients. they don't expect to have -- to have more before the first of the year. at midnight here in california albert greenwood brown was supposed to be executed for raping and killing a 15-year-old girl. now governor schwarzenegger put the execution on hold for 45 hours so the appeals court could weigh in. now he is scheduled to die thursday night at 9:00. but consider this, that drug, it expires. the only dose that california has expires on thursday, so if it doesn't happen then it likely won't happen for quite sometime. four other executions in california have also been put on hold. in oklahoma they have already canceled the execution of 38-year-old jeffery matthews. his execution was canceled the night before it was supposed to happen. now oklahoma has acquired one does of the drug, and they have two inmates that are supposed to be put to death now in the next two weeks, an

, this is -- this is a near miss. if this had been right on point, it would have been a mess for us. right now, we've got wind gusts of over 70 miles per hour and it's a sand-driven, wind-driven rain that is just really brutal. we have had reports of flooding. we still have power throughout good portions of the outer banks right now. a lot of people are really, really excited about the fact that this could have been much worse. it's downgraded in its size and power. right now, we do have hurricane warnings in effect still for the northern half of the coastline of north carolina. we also have tropical storm watches and warnings all the way up to new england. hurricane warnings for parts of new england as well. the big problem is going to be the storm surge. not so much the rain. it's going to be the storm surge, anywhere from two to four feet of storm surge, some areas picking up five feet of storm surge, but make no mistake, rainfall is still going to be an issue. we're talking about rain that could be anywhere from two to four to six inches, some areas picking up seven to ten inches of rain, especially as yo
